Michael Marix When Michael Marix got out of the Army in 1956, he had not finished college, so he needed a job that had flexible hours to attend classes. He went to work at CBS TV at Television City in Los Angeles as an usher. He would deal with audiences, for shows such as Shower of Stars, the Jack Benny Show, The Red Skelton show, the Art Linkletter Show (Houseparty). They also did filmed (prior to tape) shows at other locations, such as DesiLu Studios, with audiences, such as Lucile Ball, and a daytime live show with Johnny Carson prior to his doing the Tonight Show. In addition they did some live dramatic shows at TV City, such as Playhouse 90 and Climax, where Michael would work on the set, mostly being a gofer for the stars, such as Keenan Wynn and Ed Wynn, Louis Armstrong, John Frankenheimer, Jack Palance, etc. He subsequently became the supervisor of the Guest Relations Department, who handled the ushers and had such aspiring actors/directors working for me such as Jan Pierce and Bert Convy, subsequently a game show host. Most of the ushers aspired to a position in show biz of some sort, unlike Michael. He had aspirations elsewhere. He did a few bit parts on TV shows for the money but once he finished college, he set out to develop land.
Currently, Michael Marix is a real estate developer and President of Cornerstone Investors, Inc. Michael not only developed lots and built single family homes in various joint ventures in the Palm Springs, California, area; he sold his firm to one of the largest development companies in the industry, Lennar, in 2003. He was President of Marix Housing Corporation in Houston, Texas, Regional Vice President of Builders Resources Corp in Dallas, Texas, Regional Manager of Boise Cascade Building Company (R.A. Watt Construction Company) in Los Angeles, CA and Director of Business Development for First American Title Insurance and Trust Company in Santa Barbara, CA.
Michael is currently the Life Director, for The National Association of Home Builders, Life Director, Building Industry Association, Desert Chapter and Director, Agua Caliente Band of Mission Indians Development Authority, Palm Springs and has held several board positions in the industry for many years. He has received the Builder of the Year Award, Greater Houston Builders' Association, 1979, Builder of the Year Award, Building Industry Association of Southern California, Desert Chapter, 1998, received the President's Award, Building Industry Association of Southern California, Desert Chapter, 1993 and had various articles published, 1977-1983. Michael Marix has a BA in Economics from California State University, Los Angeles, CA.
Kim Waltrip has appeared in such Television shows as "Cheers" and "In the Heat of the Night". She co-starred along side Patricia Arquette in the film,"Pretty Smart," and co-starred in the musically influenced film "Nights In White Satin". She started her career as a model for the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency in New York City in 1976 and ventured off to Europe where she continued her modeling career in Paris, Munich, Zurich and Milan.
Kim moved to the Palm Springs area when she was offered the job as District Director for Congresswoman Bono. She helped establish the "Mary Bono Walk for Children's Charities", the "First Annual 44th Congressional District Mock Congress" for High School Students, was the liaison for the "Triangular Adoption" program which required detail discipline, and a commitment to go to sea with the U.S. Navy in celebration on Assault Helicopter Warship's duties overseas, was the Team Captain for "Bono's Beauties and Beasts - American Cancer Society's Relay for Life", She established and helped produced the Semper Fi Memorial Honor Detail video "Again They Serve" which took the top award in all services of the military. Kim was honored with the "Aide de Camp" award by the detail.
She is the owner of a music entertainment company called WonderStar Music. Kim also produced and directed a pilot for a children's travel video series called "Griffin Goes to the Grand Canyon." She is also the co-creator of a Palm Springs, CA talk show, The Patti Gribow Show. Waltrip is a current Board Member for Women In Film and Television, Palm Springs Chapter, is a Trustee for the Olive Crest Abused Children's Foundation, is past Chairwoman of the Richard Oliphant Scholarship Fund, is a member of the Blue Ribbon committee for the Indian Wells Rotary Club Scholarship Programs honoring, Richard Oliphant, is a member of the Blue Ribbon committee for the General Patton Museum and is a former board member of the Tour De Palm Springs. She was honored with the "Angel Of The Year" award in 2005 by the Olive Crest Abused Children's Foundation for her dedication and tireless work in helping abused children. Olive Crest has named a scholorship in her honor, "The Kim Waltrip Education Fund" which will help abused children achieve their educational and vocational goals.
